For the socket set, you cant get much better VFM than Halfords Pro - top quality at a good price. They usually have a set on special as well. Not sure about their torque wrenches though - I have Snap-on, but I couldn't really recommend them as they're (like all snap-on) overpriced and IMO not that great a quality. I'd look for wrenches that had a good locking system and a loud hard click.

I have a Teng torque wrench, has been faultless so far and the guys at Wheels Around highly recommended them too.

Torque wrench: look for a decent second hand jobbie @ ebay.

I've bought a couple of them meanwhile and paid China money for decent branded stuff which even came with a certificate

For my own stuff i use Teng which i think is top quality for the price it as good as snap-on But i have always found snap-on over rated i still think facom is the best.

At work they supply the cheapest nastiest garbage and boy does it get annoying to use crap tools

Just remember to completely undo a torque wrench when you are not using it, the spring inside becomes weaker over time, sometimes quite quickly. I used to calibrate them for garages amongst other things and they generally were below calibration because they were left “torquedâ€
