Just started drawing it out, think I have spotted the problem, I think that the switched 12V line is staying live because of how I've wired the fuel pump.

Diagram is sh*t so I'll try again later when I can see the car...

The MS grounds the FP relay, but I have wired the +ve from the switched 12V line, I'm going to wire it to the perm 12V instead, see if that fixes it.

Another problem is that its idling at 1500 instead of 900, Its getting too much air now the old moving plate airflow meter has gone through some of the brake servo pipework. I'm going to bung it up see if that works bringing the idle down, then I'll make up a restricter plate (By which I mean put a washer in the pipe...:lol:)

Runs well at (fast) idle, very well infact. Going to be brave and book an MOT for next week if I can... :shock:

MOT Booked for Thursday! :D

Insurance sorted for a grand total of £12.50 admin fee!! :lol: :D
I checked they have got it down as changing Mech FI and dizzy to EFI and Electronic ignition + cone filter :D Well chuffed with that!

Just a couple of tyres, a washer to reduce the idle (Hopefully) and tax to go! Oh and a rusty brake line (Surface rust only) and a shed load of wires to tidy up.

Fingers crossed and I'll take some bacon to bribe the testers guide dog.... :lol:

Fixed the run on, not very satisfactory but it works. For some reason the switched 12V line has 3v on it if the engine is running, no idea why and no idea where its getting it. So I changed the main relay for an older one and the 3V is insufficient to hold it closed. The new relay I did have was holding closed on 3v :roll:

Fixed it now.

Fixed the idle too, the servo bypass was the problem, plugged it and it now idles at 880-920 little unsteady at the moment, but ok. At 2.5k its at about 1.2% CO so should pass emissions wihtout too much fuss. Tomorrow's job will be screwing it all to a plate and tidying up the wiring!

Whats the score on CV joints?

They are pretty worn. Being RWD do they matter as much?
Forgot about them TBH...

Well its in, 2 new tyres needed and 2 new wipers (Forgot to check) I know it needs, everything else is bearings and ball joints, not much I can do about them at short notice.

Failed!

On brakes excessivly pitted, a tyre and wipers.

They want £340 to fit 2 tyres and change the discs and pads! :shock:

I told them to GTF. Got the parts coming next day from GSF, a more reasonable £90. Tyres I can't do anything about but I'm not paying £50 a corner for them either...

Got to tow it back now :(

But it passed on almost everything else (Repeaters and a fog light are too dim, sounds ropey to me, I think they are just fine)
