Re: Oops.
If it hasn't come out already the next thing to try is turn the bolt until something breaks. It will be the screw
, At that you will just round the head. then your drilling it out, let me know and I will grab a carbide drill before I leave to make easy work of it. hopefully that will release the pressure and it will come out the door beam side of the hinge, possibly with a little application of heat. If that fails we will drill through the enter of the screw and get an easy out onto it.

Re: Oops.
Update. (I knwo I am putting as much thought into one bolt as that american chap puts into his whole car).
Impact driver bought, fail.
Big bar tried. Head rounded.
Cue drill.

Re: Oops.
Drills n grinders, Pete, there is never any other way.
I got my first taste of drilling out a few months ago. Teeth gritting stuff but character building also

Re: Oops.
The door beam is now off and.is sitting in a vice at work, alas nothing on the door allows me to clamp it up so the new plan is to make a bush so I can line the drill up and drill through I will tap the screw and swith a modified bush unsure it with the help of some heat

Re: Oops.
Good effort
I have forgotten why you wanted to strip it in the first place, but that seem irrelevant now

Re: Oops.
Because the bloody Tech Wiki on SELOC said that it was a 5 minute job once you had got the clam off. And I always fancied taking the clam off, and hoped that by doing so I could fix some rattles.Stewart wrote:Good effort![]()

The door hinge is now in the top secret SE Engineering facility whilst the lead engineer (Nizzy) tries to drill the bolt out. So far, that is taking longer than he hoped.
If Nizzy ever decides to charge me for his help (for which I am very very grateful) I could be bankrupted.

Re: Oops.
Plan Q - Failed
made up a jacking pin and screwed it in from the other side trying to get the screw out in one piece. Once it has cooled I will start drilling it out with bigger and bigger drills.
Worst case I have to drill it out and helicoil it.

Re: Oops.
Bushed and drilled now at 7.5mm and the two holes do not appear to be in-line.
now using a flat bottom drill to take it out to size.

Re: Oops.
If I can't blag one I will order one tomorrow I don't know if there is enough material to modify the bush for a m12 cap head . The bushes arrive Tuesday so plenty of time. After that all it needs is painting, I might have some silver left from doing my grills.
