Kev(ABZ-Elise), came up to see me this afternoon, and after getting a boisterous welcome from Khan, he spent the next 2.5 hours helping Kenny put up the brackets for the electric roller door in the garage.

We did get chance after that to talk Elises, but it brings a new meaning to popping in to say hello.

Ohlins are cheap today
Cheaper than yesterday
Yellow ones are half a crown
Right way up or upside down
Nitrons are two and six
All depends on the number of clicks
Konis are pikey choice
Nice and cheap but not Rolls Royce.

Heard that they were on the look out for a new Poet Laureate.

Haha, just happy to help. I did have to count my fingers after I left after all the attention from Khan...I'm happy to report they're all still intact :thumbsup

The springs on them are stiffer than I thought they were. All the blue helper springs are 300lbs, the red front springs are about 490lbs and the rears are about 690lbs :?

Thankfully I havn't got piles but with spring rates like that its a good excuse to buy a new set of seats with a bit more padding in them

You might be surprised... The helpers will deal with the smaller, jarring stuff and the heavier weight ones will handle body control. I'd think there won't be much in it from a primary ride point of view, with mine at 375/400.

I would have thought that by the time the weight of the car is sitting on those helpers they won't have a lot of travel left. 300lb = 134kg, assuming equal weight distribution, which the elise doesn't have it weights approx 190kg a corner!!.

Hey - I stand to be corrected, but I have a hunch (largely going by other people's experience of the setup)

I thought helper springs should be fully compressed at nominal load/rideheight?
I'm a bit surprised they aren't lower rate helpers at the front...

Edit. Could work out if they'll be fully compressed. We know the rates and the approx weight of the car at each corner, just need the lengths (of main and helper). Or you could just slap them on and see. :D
(/robin mode off)

I think it'll be pretty darn stiff on the road Kev. First run over Glenshee...biiiooonnngggg...

Nope Tenders should be fully compressed, Helpers do some of the suspending - different things.

I thought that was the other way round. :?

Are 'helpers' not really soft, only extending when the car is jacked or on full droop. Wheras 'tenders' are much stiffer and can be fully compressed at or after full load...

Kevs actually have tender springs...???
Anyway, whatever the name, depending where the 'crossover' point is they might be more compliant as Shug initially suggested.
