No - regretting not just going for the pissed spanners sesh on Friday. If I decide I can be arsed doing it myself, would you be interested in helping for beers?

Still might just say 'sod it' and pay Ali the money to do it, as I'm more than a little sick of the Shugmobile ATM. Not sure bleeding into it would help the cause

Sounds like you're more into 1lb of flesh territory there shug :(

I've got all the tools to do a head here if you need a hand - my project has stalled pending a delivery of piston rings and sealant!

Shug, it's a piece of pi$$ to remove the head - absolutely the only two things you need to worry about are (a) making sure the crank is at the 90-degree BTDC position (all pistons level) and (b) undo the head bolts in sequence.

I reckon you can have the head removed in 2-3 hours with reasonable tools and access.

If you've just suffered elastomer seal failure then you can just bolt it all back together again with a new head gasket. Certainly one could do it in a day.

Finding a day to help is hard for me right now ... that doesn't mean it's impossible, though ... where is the car?

Cheers,
Robin

I'm sure it would be relatively easy, but it's going to be a PITA for me to get to the car (it's at Andy's), get tools, and time to do this. So I've charged the good Ali with the task of doing it (and he's quoted me happy). Yep - 6 months ago I'd have been a pig in sh*t doing it myself and if the car had been in the west, I would probably still have done it. But I've got sooo much on at the moment, it'd probably sit for 6 months before a spanner got anywhere near it. Plus, I can't be arsed with the bloody thing...

Thank f**k the market is crashing, or I'd be having thoughts about selling it.
