Great, cheers for that Greg!
And at least I did know not to use WD, thankfully

And it evaporates leaving a sticky mess everywhere...
If you must use spray grease use white (Lithium) grease stuff. WD40 is water dispersant and penetrating oil.

I've just started to have this problem too, sticky/droopy cluth pedal that I had to hook my toes behind and pull up followed by some pedal pumping before I could get gears again. Do we have a definative lubricant to use on the bushes/pivot points? GT85 or 'dry lube'?

either, but Dry Lube seems to be the one Mac recommends

Either will do the job IMHO

I had a similar problem for a few years and used dry slide as Lawrence suggests. Eventually I replaced the clutch trunion with the one Geary sells and no troubles since.

What is the replacement procedure like? I imagine some serious upside-down-in-the-footwell stuff? Though you are dinky and lithe enough to be able to walk right in there I suppose

The clutch trunnion I got from geary is pretty sloppy in the plastic bearings so I didn't fit it in the end. simply adjusting the preload on the master cylinder fixed my squeaky clutch.

The car is going in for an 'A' service in a couple of weeks so I'm having the trunnion etc replaced to stop the squeak more than anything!

Prepare to be trunnioned by the bill for replacing the trunnion
Robin
BTW, I cannot remember who, but someone (perhaps a Lotus employee) once said that trunnion was the engineering term for a widget - i.e when you've run out of proper words, like gudgeon, bush, spline, spigot and so on, all you're left with is trunnion, so that's what it's called
Cheers,
Robin
