Am not 100% sure where the water is coming out of. I daren't turn it on now incase I do more harm. Like I say am a bit of a novice with all this stuff! Think the RAC guy said it was coming from the back of the engine right down the bottom, if that rings any bells. I never actually got a really good look as to where it was coming from!
Thanks very much for the offer Robin, I dont actually have my car at mine yet. I broke down near my folks place in Eskbank so I just left it there as didnt want to attempt to drive or anythin incase it caused more damage. Trying to sort out a truck to tow it somewhere tho!

Hmm, water coming out of the bottom could be expensive ... get it towed somewhere you can trust and don't give them carte blanche or you could be facing a flippin' big bill ...

Don't forget the head on a K is rather tall so if it is the head gasket then it could look like the block. Especially on an elise where the engine is way down there.

Wheres Eskbank anyway? near Obi?

How expensive u think that would be? Al double check where it was, I couldnt get the best of looks but from what the wee RAC man said, even tho he said he never knew anythin bout lotus's, it was further down than just the head gasket!
Eskbank is near Dalkeith and Bonnyrigg!

It's pointless to speculate on how expensive - worst case you'll swap the bottom end I think - best case a hose has popped off :-)

My money is on head gasket as Thinforth says its a long way down (Relatively)

Are there any joints on the block with a water channel inside? I thought they were all oil down there?

Lawrence
Hi Lawrence,

Would that be possible for you to take a look at my car? If its not too much trouble it would be very much appreciated.
If it isn't an inconvenience just let me no when suits you best. I usually work 9-5 during the week but could see if can get away from work early or if sat's suit you better am normal free all day on them?
Thanks very much for your help and the offer, it would be great if you could have a look for me but if its too much trouble just let me know!

Thanks again,
Mel.

Difficult to say who could help locally from garage point of view.

I can't think of any outfit in Edin I could recommend, or that I've heard recommended on here, TBH. I would normally say Dan at Jude Performance in Newcastle, or F1 in Newcastle, or Falkland Performance in Glenrothes, or Dreadnought in Callander. All people with good K experience, but also all of which would involve getting your car transported unfortunately.

However Lawrence's offer to take a look will probably provide a helpful diagnosis...he has seen a bit of K series action in his time ;-)

Keep us up to date.

Campbell
