Gonna pay a visit to kwik fit tomorrow to see if they can get them out with a gun. The other problem is the bit that's stuck in the bolt. I drilled into it last night and the put a screw in and tried pulling it out but it won't budge. Not sure how it's gonna come out :?

Dave,

It's a bolt on the S2.

Hence the reason both Shug and I haven't felt the requirement to crack those jokes earlier :D

Avoid Kwik Fit at all costs. The YTS kids, sorry 'wheel technicians', have less experience than my dog. Thieving, lying, shower of w4nkers

When my bolts seized the gun wouldnt shift them. The extra long bar only broke the tool, went through three of them!! :(

Best of luck with them!

What extra long bar?
I'm giving kwik fit a miss as there's no point cos I wouldn't trust them to fit the tyres. So I'm going to see Ronnie at Wheels Around tomorrow at 10.00. Unfortunately, the 2 adaptors I ordered from Lotus didn't turn up so I'm borrowing Phil's. Hopefully they'll come off with the impact gun.

TRS andy put his air gun on full blast and it wouldnt shift them.

Did you speak to the company that put them on, i guess its hard to prove but they should take some responsibility. :?

Went to see Wheels Around in Bridge of Earn after borrowing Phil's spline. Still no luck :(
Got all 3 normal bolts off the right and 2 off the left but the 3rd one sheared the spline. The locking nuts won't shift at all so they're gonna get drilled out. I currently have the 5 that shifted replace with normal bolts but with a slightly too big head on them (19mm instead of 17mm). Ronnie is going to order a set of bolts with a 17mm head and once I've gotten the 2 splines I ordered from Lotus, they're going to sort it out.

Incidentally, the other guy that was there (didn't get his name) went out to see if he could find a spline that fitted. He couldn't but while he was in Perth he met someone he knew who worked at McConechy's who told him they will not touch an Elise if it had the standard bolts on it and he didn't know anyone in Perth that would either! He also said they'd been through loads of these adaptors in the past and that's why they won't do it. So a word of warning for anyone with these bolts, check you can get your wheels off and if you can, I'd replace with normal headed ones.

I dunno if it's a bad design or just that wheel monkeys don't know/give a damn about the torque setting which is quite low.

Si, this is MMC's problem surely. They fitted the Toyo's right? And the car gets serviced there so the wheels should have been off then too. So they were responsible for ensuring the wheel hubs were greased and the bolts were torqued to the correct spec if they were last to put the wheels on. And even if some Kwickfit guy came in to do the job, it's still their responsibility. Take the car there, scream your head off, and launch the keys over the counter.

This it nothing to do with MMC as they weren't the last to take the wheels off. It was Roy's in Arbroath but I have no way of proving that.

lo

On behalf of Si - can he borrow someone else's spline?
Its for the non-stuck wheels.

Lotus have a backorder on this part - and both his and my splines are knacked.

He assures it wont be broken.

If you let me know (Si doesnt have internet acces at work) then I can pass on his Address and you could post it to him?

cheers
Phil
