Hi, yes went for the 225 out of the MkI TT with the 6-speed 2WD box from the Leon Cupra R.
It's plenty fast enough for my liking but needs some mapping to give it some manners in the idle/cruise range of operation - ideally I will map out all boost from 0-4000RPM in anything other than full throttle (this to stop the endless turbo whistles and farts that you get on throttle transients).
I'll have more to report post-Spazz ... assuming the car and I actually get there, and back

Re: Mainly for Robin.
I used to have a S3 a few (many) years back, 210bhp which was remapped by Star Performance and ended up with 250@5200 and 250@3000 I think it was. It was like driving a powerful diesel with the power coming in strong and running out of puff very quickly.
Will it not be hard to control the wheel spin with the power coming in so strong? I know a lot of the VX220 boys always say a Supercharged VX is a far better track car than a mapped turbo car cause od lag etc.
I loved my S3 as a road car, owned it for nearly 2 years which is impressive for me
.
Why not a Honda out of curiosity? Rev happy, reliable and no torque.
Mike
Ps, where is the build thread

Re: Mainly for Robin.
I'm going to forecast that Robin will map the engine for gradual boost as opposed to on-off.

It's a secret.
I wasn't involved enough in the job to make a useful build thread. Happy to answer any specific questions you might have.

Awesome but boo, need lots of whistles and farts..
I assume it will need some low down boost otherwise it might (almost) never get up to 4,000 rpm. Maybe none on less than half throttle? Does it have cruise control?
What you really need is an inverse sport button to turn off boost when you're 'transient cruising' (fnnar). I vote button is marked 'Dull'.
Shame you couldn't have gone DSG for full heretic mode...
Be great so see something different on Spazz.

Agree with Ali. If you've got a turbo, don't hide it. Embrace the cacophony.

I think the correct practice for switchable maps on an Audi Elise is to have a toggle switch with two modes, "Bob" and "Burt".

Incidentally, I don't think of this as a new Turbo Era, I think of it as the hybrid era. The only thing I'd like to see different is removal of the fuel flow meter for qually, so we could see some insane horsepower shootouts again - but that wouldn't fit with the new F1 image, would it?
