This would be my dream project! :thumbsup Looking forward to following progress. As a Duratec fan, I can also see that it's 'no-brainer' as all the bits are well tried and tested for an inline RWD car.

Nice project Mike, brings back some memories of my own mk 1 escorts shown here at a very bleak knockhill in the early 80's, Ingliston too, lotus twin cam engined rally car we built and my mk 1 RS 2000 road car. Looking forward to your thread.

Why Duratec and not Zetec?
Given that a new Zetec with all the bits and base mapped at 175 bhp is around £2k delivered to your door

:cheers
Can you not fit some V8 Muscle in there?
I imagine he probably can. This is Mikie after all. But I also imagine that's not really the point. Is it...

Good luck, Mike. Build thread more than welcome here :-)

Just a quick update. Picked up the shell tonight and took it to Retro Restorations to have it prep'd for the build. Overall the shell is in really good nick for a car that is 40 years old. Forward plan is to sort out all the iffy bits, of which there aren't many. Have the car either dipped and Electrophoretic coating applied or soda blasted and conventionally primed. Then build the car, strip it back and send the shell to paint before final assembly.

Big thanks to Scotty for his help tonight :cheers . I forgot to take pictures but I'm sure he didn't :D .

Saw the shell yesterday on the back of a recovery van when I was heading home from Aberdeen- what a small world!

I can't wait to see you get your teeth into this Mike! Your build threads are so interesting and there is so much scope for a Mk1, love to see what direction you take with it.... :thumbsup
