Agree, at least they are trying to work through it now though.....can't use the car on track till they have found the issue :(

You feeling better today?

they tried a new MAF sensor yet?

my subaru was stuttering, loosing power.
no faults in the system.
found i had a RamAir oily filter.
Changed it to paper, no diff.
Changed MAF sensor - stuttering reduced and power back!
So, it may not have failed, but maybe at certain conditions the ecu could get fed up the readings and shut down?

if speed dependant - air, fuel mixture maybe the problem at higher speeds?
pure guessing, but must be something logical

One assumes MMC have thought about this option (as you'd think it a classic symptom) but if their code reader has told them it's something else, they may just be dumb enough to discount it..... :(

I'll certainly mention it! Thanks Phil

As the MAF inevitably becomes coated in soot the readings for the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) become less and less accurate, but the PCM has no way of knowing this. It must accept the reading, and since the PCM uses the MAF to determine airflow for fueling..........

Could be on to something possibly?????

The other option could be a fault eminating from the TPS sensor?

I don't know a great deal about how this all works, but surely the fault I'm getting sounds more likely to be caused by a sensor error?

You'd have hoped that they would have checked the MAF and TPS sensors functionality first???!!

Anyone else got any thoughts???

Oh, Colin

Stole your original post for this thread and modified and cross posted to SE*OCK to see if anyone else in the UK has had this issue !

Determined to get this sorted!

What MMC will have done is plugged in the error code reader and done what it told them to. I'd be very dubious that they've actually tested values coming from the sensors, as the ECU should report any erronious readings as an error.

That doesn't mean it'll be right though. Get them to test the sensors (physically, with a multimeter, not just through the ECU diagnostics) just to rule them out in the first instance.

I agree it does sound like the ECU is getting a message it doesn't like and going into panic mode. Of course, that *should* be stored in the ECU, but if it's getting confused by something, it may pop out a wrong code....

Found this on SEL*OCK

This was after the guy had taken it to them 7 times!

"Well I've got the Car back and it's been road tested now over 100 miles, they've now downloaded the latest version of software onto the Ecu and so to touch on a point that's already been raised, I actually work in IT so understand to some extent what's been going on. which begs the point that in my view even now more than before I don't believe that the Zorst or induction kit caused this issue, I feel that it was faulty software download onto the Ecu or as what's already been posted wasn't the correct version of software loaded onto the Ecu which is why it kept giving error P1302

I'll be extremely angry if I have to re-fit another exhaust and standard induction just to prove my point. I will be asking Wilson's to pay for it and any re-fit cost's should they arise of the original kit, I've spoken to Quicksilver who made my pipe & they said "don't they think that we've tested these thing's at length before releasing them" I also understand that Lotus don't guarantee any part's you fit which is fair enough but I'm not asking anyone to fix my pipe or induction kit I'm asking them to sort out the Ecu problem. Everyone I know who has a Lotus has Induction kit and an after market pipe it's crap.

My pipe is in fact one of the test exhaust's and hadn't failed in any test

Why did it take 5 or 6 times of me returning my car to Wilson's for them to download new software ? Why didn't they contact Lotus after the 2 or 3rd visit they must have know that resetting the Ecu wouldn't work, I don't feel that I've been treated fairly and should be compensated, my car is less than 6 month's old and is in fact the 2nd brand new Lotus that I've brought in 3 year's, doesn't that count for anything ? what on earth is going on they should have already offered to re-fit the standard Zorst and Induction as a matter of eliminating this if they really thought it was causing the error"

Just called MMC about this - response - can we actually download new software to the ECU? I thought it was only the factory that could do that!

Dealers should have the kit to update ECU's. Not map them specifically, but to upload the latest fixes from Lotus. Be sure and mention that it's all being posted up on here as it happens too. We're waiting to be proved wrong on MMC's reputation.....

I've actually been emailing that guy....his thread turns in to handbags early doors as 2 SEL*OCKERS start bitching!

I took me ages to read all 4 pages and find the important bit due to all the winging!

Oh, and one of the guys who got in to the handbags posted on my thread about this saying "i dont want to go through this again!" instead of pointing to the thread! Took me about 5 minutes to find it though.

If only I can get this sorted!

Andy

Thanks for kicking it into pay at SELOC, I should have thought of that one too. MMC pick my car up tomorrow, then we'll see what happens on this side of the saga. My engine 'feels' perfectly OK even with the light on, frustrating.

Another isssue with the Yota engine is that apparently (and i know f*** all about these things) some of the fluids etc used to build and construct the engine can get in to the TPS sensor over time, and cause a similar issue!

Never heard of this before, but apparently Lotus has issued a notice about it.

I'll be so happy when this thing is working properly again :D

Oh, noticed Murrays have a white Exige on sales in the used car section at a mere £44995 - has to be a 240, but surely nochance at that price.

The Demo Exige S was at a dizzy £39995. Quite how a used one is more than a list one with Sports pack & AC I'm not really sure.
