Dan,
Thanks for the advice, got a new set of 42s for front and will thoroughly clean old discs and change fluid yet again (this time Halfrauds Race Fluid!)..strongly agree that a track day car should not need race car prep but confidence in the brakes is important for any track situation....will post follow up after KH on Saturday.
Take care,
Frank
ps. Tut, WTF are the cup holders, they would be useful, specially for bleeding the brakes...

I have to agree with Dan
ABS & RS14s dont work as I found out to my cost when they munched a new set of 295 APs I think the initial bite is just too aggressive and confuses the ABS
Bellow are some pics of the brake cooling ducts that were on my old car
http://www.exiges.com/ubbthreads/showfl ... art=3&vc=1
I found RS42s AP295s plus the best brake fluid you can find are the best combo! Remember I was running this on a car with 270+ HP and 950ish KGs so should be fine for most versions of Exige.
I will be fitting RS29 front RS14s rear for KH this weekend so will report back on how they fair.

Mmmm interesting stuff, RS14 pads. My Exige is going back to MMC tomorrow for warped front disks after only 2k miles

Even with the 4 pot brakes and ali belled disks. double

The RS14's are standard fit so not that happy. My 111R with RS4-2's never missed a beat never a disk or brake problem in 15k miles.

My car currently runs RS14s at the front and RS15s at the rear but they are dead and I dont like the 14s at the front thus the 29s. GT3 RSs like them they are marketed as an endurance race pad.... Read about all the options.

RS14's are pretty brutal unless you are doing loads of track racing? Used 42's on the 111r and thought they were awesome.
Raced the RLC with RS14's and they were awesome too.
On the Atom, rear pad set number 3 is going to be ordered after this track day!

AMG GT-R
Atom 4 - CM425
Lotus Esprit S4S
G30 M5 Comp
Ferrari 599
Lotus Elise S1 "Shed" spec

RS14 is, for me, the vastly superior pad, road or track, on an unservoed S1 . . . better bite, better modulation, better cold and hot performance . . . but they do chew disks - but who cares about that - if you want long disk life - buy a micra . . . I'm running a set of RS42's at the moment and I have to say I regret not putting on the 14's . . .

FD, have you experienced juddering with the RS14s? Are you using the stock disks?
I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

I run slotted disks these days, too many drilled disks develop cracks (including a set I ran a long time ago) and road cars dont get enough inspection to catch the cracks in time IMHO . . . my brakes are creamy smooth . . .
I've had some vibration problems on the caterham on track running a variety of pads (mintex 1144's, RS15's) and that seems to be caused by the pad/disk transfer layer being worn unevenly . . . overheating the disks/pads I think was the conclusion we came to upon looking at the disks with the pad supplier (performance braking) - the disks had a kind of uneven blue colour to them . . . the brakes on the caterham are non vented and very small front and rear so certainly a possibility . . . have never had problems with the Elise on track however . . . however the caterham is a whole different ballpark in late braking . . . oh the mintex's disintegrated on me twice with big chunks falling off the pad backing plates . . . I won't buy them again . . .

Well, once it dried out on Sat was able to see how the Rs29s front & RS14s rear performed. I was very pleased they held up to a good 35min stint of abuse without issues would recommend them they give you a bit more bit than the 42s but not nearly as aggressive as the 14s

Jamie
Did you run the pads with the standard disks?

no, standard discs are made of cheese would only use 42s on them and even then they struggle

I certainly do, I was badly referring to your kamikaze setup of last year IIRC!
