chip the jaggy bits of glass off, change the bulb, put an eliseparts cover over it, (poss with glue, i'm sure someone will advise) job done.

way less hassle than changing the whole thing, looks the same, and it wont break

.. but the reflector is all corroded - glass ok as I have the elisepart covers on!

driving lights you're talking about, not headlights?? i've not heard of driving lights corroding

is it an MOT failure, or just a can't see on dipped beam?

yup - driving lights...
the wee feckers that are next to the towing eye.

one of my headlights is also starting to corrode!

both my headlights are fairly badly corroded, but still fine for the MOT, although i was thinking about putting xenon bulbs in of similar wattage as i can't really see in the dark

maybe it's just the corrosion....

i see though, you want to replace for the corrosion, but light still in tact. i guess then a replacement is the only option. i have read that the clams are all slightly different, and bolted together slightly differently, which means that some are a doddle ten minute job, and others are an absolute whore to change.... good luck
