rattley rattle

Post by GregR » Thu Dec 22, 2005 5:21 pm

chaps - i know i should go on SELOC and search for rattle - but I'm not at work and can't remember my sodding login details. So anyway, here's my problem.

Between 2-2.5k revs, accelerating and decelerating, I get a weird rattle from the engine bay. Rattle is the same for accelerating as for decelerating. I thought it might be the 'coke overflow' or whatever the cold weather rattle problem was caused by, but it was still doing it after a 65 mile run from Edinburgh - Dundee - any ideas? I think it started after I had a wee spin and touched the rear offside off a central reservation...oh wait up, that was just the soft-top trusses that fell out of place and rattled.

all help appreciated.

Cheers,

Greg

Have you had the trays off at the back? My handbrake cable and gubbins were rubbing. A bit of fluffy velcro saturated with grease sorted it!

Most rear end rattles will be something or other touching the undertray. Due to the size of it and lack of support ( a few wee screws along the side) they are prone to vibration if anything gets on to them.

I've even heard a rattle caused by a stone on the undertray!

Cheers
