Lightweight batteries: ok or hassle?

So, lightweight batteries: worthwhile as a weight saving, or more trouble than they are worth? Discuss! :)

Lithium seem to be the way for significant gains, but at some cost!

Less bothered about weight, more about reliability. If Li is more dependable, that's got to be good?

Used the Odyssey Extreme batteries before and they were excellent for reliability as long as you use a conditioner if you are going to be leaving the car regularly for long periods.

I always put mine on a c-tek conditioner and the battery would last about 4-5 years.
