Elise s1 quicksilver paint problem

Post by cardo » Wed Aug 05, 2015 8:16 pm

Wonder if anyone can give me a spot of advice.....
I've been having a few cracks repaired on the gel coat on the front clam of my '99 135 Sport.Problem being that my painter is having a nightmare trying to get a decent match on the paint.
He's had 4 batches made up from different sources/manufacturers and all are different! None of them have the correct blue tint that they should have and range from nearly straight silver to lilac/purple tints....
My car has had localised paintwork in the past but is,on the whole, pretty original. We had a paint guy out with a spectrometer who came back with a 97% match....that also was nowhere near!
Has anyone on here had any experience of matching this colour?
I believe Du Pont was the original manufacturer but the formulation should be the same across the board :?

Cheers

Yup. They got the skin tone spot on. Can't comment on the waxing though.
