S2 Exige - Electrical Problem

Post by a4drk » Sun Apr 19, 2015 2:47 pm

a few things - hopefully all connected
1) My speedo doesn't work & the ABS light & engine management light is on
2) The side lights are permanently on - when you start the car up
3 Sometimes the ignition doesn't turn the car off - and if you push the side lights it turns the ignition off!

see Video clip
(I say that the lights arent on, but they are)

Any input much appreciated
Thanks
David

Robin,
The car was in a garage for 7 weeks getting a full paint job.

When i picked it up, the ignition wouldnt switch off. "He got it sorted"
then when i got home, the central locking never worked.
So it went back to him & he got an auto electrician to look at it.
He fixed the central locking, but then screwed up the speedo / abs light problem.

i'll check the fuses

What about relays ?

David

Much less likely to be a relay. If the car has been dismantled then the chances are you've got wiring problems rather than fuses ... it won't be an easy fix (well, it will be easy to fix but it won't be so easy to find).

The speedo could just be one of the wheel speed sensors disconnected (likely given you need to disconnect them to remove the clam).

That would also light the ABS lamp.

The side-light-to-ignition feed is more perplexing, though could be as simple as an earth lead not reconnected.

Cheers,
Robin

Thanks robin.
Craig at mmc reckons it could be a broken wire
That's me got a few options now to look into

Cheers
