S1 Sidelight

Post by Ferg » Sat Jun 14, 2014 6:47 pm

Found the reason my side light bulb was rolling about inside the headlight. One of the side light holders has disintegrated resulting in the side light falling out into the headlight. It seems this bit comes as part of the headlight. Anyone got one kicking about from an old headlight unit after updating for new headlights?

The holder itself without the cable tails can be had here but not exact match so would prefer proper unit.

Thanks
Ferg

Fairly sure I bought new ones. Darned if I can recall from where but hardly unique.

Yes those are the ones in my link on my original post. ;)

Just wondered if anyone had them after changing headlights recently. Save building up the tails etc.

Nope. You did give me an orange indicator lens though to replace a cracked one a few years ago. Which I actually only put on the car for the first time last month lol :)

As it turns out, I'm a bit of numpty... ;)

I re-looked at the picture I borrowed of SELOC above, the pile of bits I had and realised I could put all the bits there were back together to make a working unit. Must have panicked a little *cough* when it all came apart in my hands. In the mele I lost the grommet it sits in as it dropped in below the crash structure but have been saved by Dom who's got an old one lying about, thanks dude.

My single peice of advice after doing so much with the small parts of the headlights recently is to shove a rag or something into the triangular gap that leads under the crash structure. Otherwise EVERYTHING you drop will roll away where you can't get to it. :)

So Spaz prep continues...
