Developed a problem with the electric window mech on my 2009 Exige. It kept sticking and then eventually jammed. Got it fully up through up, down, up down with always more up than down. Got the door panel off and it looks like the window winder wire has become twisted and keeps jamming as it goes into the electric winder mech. It also looks like it is a pure bitch to remove/replace anything window associated. Anyone ideas or similar experiences? Is it possible to replace the wire or does the whole assembly have to be replaced? If the whole thing needs replacing any idea of cost and can it be done by semi competent home mechanic or do I have to make arrangement for the car to go to MMC?
Fixed for now by disconnecting wonder switch.

After many months of DIY in the house, slow provision of parts from Lotus etc I am now about to atempt the swapping out of the old window winder mech.
Any tips/advice on how best to do the swap out/in?

If it's anything like the interior of the door on an S1, get some chainmail gauntlets from a Knights' outfit, or you'll die from blood loss... TBH mate, I think it's just a case of wiggling and not forcing anything too much - always looks to me like there's more inside the door than should fit through the access... Hope the S2 is better in this aspect.

I did this on my old Clio about 3 years ago. Same as you, window jammed and after taking off door panel all the wires were just a mess due to a little plastic glider being broken.
Can't remember much about the fitting but I am towards the basic end of DIY competency and managed it. I do recall the original kit I bought you had to measure and cut your own wires. It seemed too much so I exchanged it for a kit with all the cables already pre-cut. Was quite rewarding when it all worked again.
