outside air temperature sensor

Post by jimbo » Mon Dec 23, 2013 2:40 pm

When your car has an outside air temperature sensor, where is the sensor normally mounted? Is it affected by air flow?

Thanks

IIRC on the disco 3 it's somewhere behind the front grill. Not aware of airflow affecting it tho the disco isn't exactly a flying machine!
Don't know if that helps as you may be referring to lotus specifics.

Not effected by airflow. Temp sensors don't get a wind-chill factor, it's only humans that get it due to the small amount of warm air (warmed by the body) trapped between the hairs and the skin that gets moved and replaced by ambient air.

Every car I've had, has had it under the wingmirror. :thumbsup

All the VAG cars I've had have had the sensor behind the front bumper. BMW was behind the bumper/ in the wheelarch I think.
