Key cutting

Post by Kugaman1 » Fri Nov 01, 2013 6:44 pm

My wife took my Elise key into Timpsons to get a spare cut. Guy reckons it has a transponder inside and will cost £45.

I then tried a back street key cutting shop in Aberdeen and was told the same....

Is this true? I thought the transponder was in with the Cobra alarm fob?

My key (2002 Elise 1.8 k) has the feeble torch button built in, but no sign of a transponder....
Anyone know any better???.

Cheers :thumbsup

There is no transponder. Full stop. There is an alarm fob.

(Could be wrong but I really don't think I am).
