Hi,
My handbrake switch is playing up, it barely touches the handbrake and doesnt turn off the dashlight because of this.
The actual switch works, its just the metal lever which is near done.
Guess I should look for a new one unless I can modify it somehow. Anyone know who makes them?
Cheers
Andy

I managed to brake mine into about 100 bits and ended up just buying a new one, from deroure I think..
If it's the same as the S1, I'm fairly sure the entire hand brake and switch etc is a classic Mini part.

Mine works, just for some odd reason, when u take the handbrake off, it doesnt push the little lever down enough to press the microswitch.....
Very odd....

Does the handbrake have a lot of left/right slop?
I don't know who makes it, unfortunately, but is it anything more than a microswitch? Rs/Farnell sell 100's of microswitches so maybe just find one that's similar and pimp it up?

yes, the wee bugger wouldn't go to sleep but she will cry because she's tired. Looks like she will be an only child.

I do like the idea of replacing a simple on/off switch with an nvidea graphics card though

Cheers all, when I get a chance I might remove the console and see if I can do anything with it!.....
Kinda needs a bit fettling and should be OK....
If not, then time for a new one!

I *think* it's just a very thin metal arm with a plastic bit on it that contacts with the actual lever. If I'm understanding what you're sating correctly, a slight bend in the metal arm will solve your problem...
On the other side of things, mine flickers now and then, which is obviously a loose wire. The light would be on constantly if the circuit was broken..

Managed to fix it......
Just added a small metal clip across the metal arm which made the arm touch the switch button when the handbrake is off. It was only around 1mm shy if contact, but it might as well have been a mile!
Was a bit of a struggle to get in and about as I couldnt get the centre console fully out, too much hassle teying to get the gear knob off!
