Wot are these wires?

Any idea what these are?
1st one comes off wiring loom under inspection panel, just a black wire leading to nothing.
3rd is hanging down from underside of dash..

Any ideas?

Finally, anyone know where i can get a new service cover clip?

When you found out where to get a new clip let us know.

(In garage, door closed on it's own, now I'm in darkness, step backwards, tripped over bike stand, fell into car. I need a new clip too.)

The one under the dash is the OBD connector - you can plug in a reader for diagnostics. Tie it up under the dash and forget about it. The other wire ....... No idea

Anyone else with a clue about the long thin black wire? It was hanging in the wheel arch and comes from the wiring loom under the service cover passenger side.
Seems rather odd......

Is it not an antenna for something? (Alarm?) What does the end of it look like? Can you see a conductor or is it sealed off with the insulation?

Yeah, my thought was an antenna for mw/lw radio, but that didnt seem right....

End is sealed off with the insulation.

Never thought about the alarm, that would make sense....thanks.

What year is your elise?

If it doesn't have an aerial on the engine cover then its the aerial for the radio which is usually gaffer taped across the front of the clam as shown in diagram number 5

No mate, mines an 02 and has the aerial on the cover.

I can only assume that this was an aerial for the alarm system!

If its the meta alarm then quite possible but if it the cobra then definately not mate

Oh well, if thats the case, were back to the mystery then as I have the cobra!

Cant say Ive noticed any difference in the car since coiling it up and taping it out if the way tho!
