Boot and bonnet catch

Post by jimbo » Mon Apr 22, 2013 9:17 am

Can somebody give me a dummies guide to how these actually work??

I have slotted the flat plate with the nut attached into the recess and then screwed on the spring loaded catch but it sits proud now, and wont open!?

Thanks

James

You have to much preload on the spring if I am reading what you have done right.
To get the boot open again you will need to have someone press down on the boot lid while you pull the cable to unload the pin from the underside of the catch. This will allow the catch to travel it's proper distance and then release the pressure on the boot lid and it should spring open.
Remember to back the pin out a bit, make it longer and lock it in place with the large black nut that acts as the spring platform.
