S2 coolant pump

Post by dov » Wed Feb 27, 2013 6:12 pm

Hy,
RIpped my car apart to start an Audi conversion and noted what looks like an electric pump in the circuit, looking at the design of the output casing.

Is it a pump or is it an actuated valve to divert coolant from/to radiator?
Thx in advance

If your car was an S2 VVC then this will be the recirculation pump that the ECU turns on when you turn the engine off hot - it circulates coolant through the engine and radiator - I guess it's to get rid of latent heat.

If it was any other model then who knows ... perhaps a PRT (Pressure Relief Thermostat). Post a picture ...

Cheers,
Robin
