That's an awesome deal!! When I was looking, Titan's response was not going to be fast so had to pay over the odds for one already done in a private sale. I paid WAY more than that...doh!

Got the new steering rack and track rod ends fitted yesterday. OH MY GOD what a difference! Absolutely no notchy vague responses anymore, feels soooo much better, even if it now needs geo done asap....

Just wish id done it sooner!

If you're in 2 minds about doing it, don't be, just get it done. Carparts Direct, £97 plus VAT, crazy good value.

Agreed - had one of their racks fitted to Egor earlier this year and night-and-day difference to the knackered old one I had. Sure I could have done it myself, but for 90-odd quid I just don't see the value in spending my time on it ;-)

I think there's one of them in UJI too. That's why Robin won't do another one :damnfunny

Do we know if Carparts are using bronze cups in their refurbed racks (unlikely I guess) or are able to? Don't fancy doing a rack swap a third time...

IMO, the plastic cups are a cheap engineered failure point for a reason. If the shocks are passed along the chain to the rack and the pinion, would that not just mean the teeth get fatigued instead? Cheaper to replace plastic cups than throw away the rack (although if it's now 90 odd quid, you could almost see them as consumables now, I suppose) Doesn't change the fact that something's fatiguing the rack though - just the plastic cups are taking the pain just now.
