Front bonnet release

Post by kerryxeg » Wed Jan 16, 2013 12:46 am

S1 Exige - The front bonnet is unlatching when the you pull the release latch in the footwell, but is still held in some manner in the latch. So you get about an inch of clearance from the closed position but that's it. The bonnet has been off and refitted - not by me so I've no idea if there could have been any form realignment causing a problem or just the latch that's got lazy.

So far I've tried spraying in WD40, wiggling the bonnet, exercising the latch and various combinations but no luck. Any bright ideas?

This happened with mine but managed to sort it with some heavy side to side movements Nd Omeone pulling the latch inside the car

Pretty sure you can get to it through the arch liners

This might help showing whats going on in there...

It's the same as S1 Elise, agree side to side combined with pulling latch worked on the shed I had.

Yup - has gone back together with the latch pin off-centre. Get it open with some brisk wiggling and reposition carefully by loosening the hinge bolts and nudging whichever way it needs to go.

When it comes to bits put a bit of paper over the latch hole adn lower the bonnet it'll give you an idea of where it's catching.

If it's close then clean the pin up and cover it in black permanent marker, then push it closed but not latched and see where the marker is scraped off.

Should be able to adjust it to the centre of the latch easily.
