I've been trying to eliminate play in the steering. In the process of trying to fit a new lower column, I realised the upper column needed to come out. This all went well until I split the ignition switch from the column. I split it in the wrong place and rather than opening the cover to disconnect the wires I opened the unit itself and the contacts and springs from the inside the unit exploded over the inside of the car. Doh...school boy error. I managed to find all the bits and put it together but theres something not quite right.
I've had a wee look about but can't determine yet whether the ignition switch is common with someone else. I pretty sure its not salvageable and I need to repalce it, but would rather not go through Lotus for the part if it comes from something like a Vauxhall Corsa.
Anyone know, or been through something similar?
