Dash panels

Post by jimbo » Wed Mar 28, 2012 3:19 pm

Can somebody give me a clue as to how to remove the various dash panels. Where to start, rough location of retaining screws etc etc

Cheers

James

Front infills come out first. Slide credit card in the join between front fillet and dash top facia. Bend card up (so applying pressure down to infill) and withdraw, infill will slide out.

Top curved section is next - seem to remember screws located under where infills were - can't remember if the end fill-ins up against the windscreen pillar need removed. With infils out you can see all fixings for steering column shroud, stack fixings behind that - cowl fixings behind stack.

That's all that comes out. Top of dash is moulded in one piece with screen surround, ally lower is chassis.

That's all from memory, has been a while since I did it - the only trick is the infills, the rest is clear enough when you see it.

Oh, and be careful taking off the curved upper section - it's clipped to the dash top with curved clips that love nothing more than pinging off into the depths of the chassis...

Cheers for that, should be a massive help.

I'm getting the upper sections trimmed soon along with the steering wheel so thought id make a start on removing them.

Thanks

James

Who's refurbing it for you? Wouldn't mind doing mine as well as the alcantara is a bit skew whiff in places. I've got new probax seats as well so may get the door cards done to match while I'm at it

I've not actually organised it yet, but Ali from SLS said there's a local company in the same new industrial estate that he's in that does it. He used them to re trim a Sierra Cosworth seat and said the work was top notch.
Will keep you posted if you like?
