Winscreen Chip Repair

Post by mikeyb13 » Fri Dec 30, 2011 5:56 pm

Just getting round to fixing the damage caused by my last track outing. Done most of the paint chips and they are looking ok ish. Will need a pro to look at it when I have the cash. Probably going to have to get the front and a patch on the door sprayed again.
Figure im best getting the chip on the new windscreen done sooner rather than later. Its only a small one can anyone recommend someone in West lothian/Edinburgh?

Wait for someone to confirm, but I think Autowindscreens at the gyle are S1 Elise savvy, not sure where they stand with loosening the front clam. Almost used them last year, but turned out the chip I have has been previously treated.

Presume you are using your insurance Mike, and that it is a chip fix as opposed to a new windscreen.

If so it will be free, but you will have a windscreen repair number to call in your booklet, so use that as opposed to choosing your own.

Yes Tut its just a small chip.
Was hoping to not have to go through the insurance as there is a 75quid excess on both repairs and windscreen replacements. Seems crazy, on a Lotus specific policy you would think they would rather pay for a repair than have to fork out for fitting a new windscreen £££
Have seen diy kits for a tenner was thinking one of these chip repair places would be able to do it for a lot cheaper than 75 quid.

It should be free Mike, has been on any Policy that I have had. You just have to call the glass repair company that your company deals with, tell them that it is a chip, and they will come to your house and repair it.

No need to call the Insurance at all, and there is no excess for the repair, that only applies to a new screen.
