Throttle body trumpets
Throttle body trumpets
These are all slack on my car. Held in with three cap screw but the thickness of the backplate means they don't get compressed. Must be fairly common so what's the best solution, drop of araldite on the sides of the trumpets? With the engine idling they rattle something chronic.

Re: Throttle body trumpets
craig very small fibre washers , put a slight flat on them on one edge they will grip the trumpets when tight , the washer wants to be slightly bigger than required if you understand

Re: Throttle body trumpets
Thanks Rich but should have the correct size. The old ones were a PITA to come out, the heads are made of cheese so need Vice grips for several of them!

Re: Throttle body trumpets
If you peen around the base of the trumpet it will stretch the length of the trumpet slightly, this will raise the shoulder WRT the backplate and give more purchase to the clamp bolts. I have done this on around a dozen sets.

The elegant way to do it is to Skim 0,2mm from the TB face.
However fitting a longer carbon trumpet and deeper airbox will make the engine far more tractable and so much less peaky with no top end loss, it's worth a thought. -
