Compressed air log splitter conversion

To be honest the best tools for the job are a log splitting axe a sledge hammer and a bacho or sandvick spiral wedge.
I have just split about 20 tonnes (over a fair period) with these.
Log splitters are easier but not as quick and will struggle with large logs unless you get a big vertical one. Be sure to cut the logs into concistent lengths, generally somewhere between 6 and 14 inches which will make the splitting and mor importantly the stacking for drying easier.

If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!
Re: Compressed air log splitter conversion
I bought a foot operated splitter recently that works quite well.

thats pineSanjoy wrote:It's a fair amount.
get a decent log splitting axe otherwise known as a maul and you will find you can split that with one hit.
Unless you are getting a log splitter with a hydraulic power pack i wouldn't bother as my father had an electric/hydraulic one and it broke after little use.

You dont really want to be burning too much pine on a stove, you will get lots of creosote build up in the flue.
