Elaine's Supercharger install
Re: Elaine's Supercharger install
Shug.
How much weight did it add to the car overall? Thinking of going down this line as well. Presently not too sure of the weight of my 111R but will hopefully have it weighed at the W/E and if it is around 860Kg and the weight of the Supercharger not too much will gofurit. Presently do not have A/C, on a stage 2 exhaust, hurricane filter.

Didn't do a pre-weigh-in, but it was lighter than a non SC "R" at the weekend. That car had AC and the new dash though. Came out at 876.5KG with half a tank of fuel. Hers has Touring pack and was also full of her CDs and junk...martins wrote:Shug.

FWIW, there's very little additional weight in the supercharger install - really only the weight of a pulley, tensioner, nose brace and supercharger internals - the standard inlet manifold is junked and the supercharger/integrated manifold combo is substituted. Can't be more than a 10KG add. A full standalone charger of the spec of the one in Elaine's is 8KG, but that's with it's outer case - in this install, the outer case is combined with the inlet manifold - can't see that weighing much more than the existing inlet manifold looking at it.
Certainly, no matter what your car weighs, not much point in not adding a supercharger if you can afford to, IMO, as you won't feel the weight difference - much much less than a tank of fuel! Elaine even claims better fuel consumption day to day! I'm a total convert.

Re: Elaine's Supercharger install
OK I am sold on the idea. Now to convince my dear lady that I really need to spend a further $5K (need to get a couple of other bits and bobs (clutch and flywheel perhaps!) done and $5K is a nice round number) on 'that plastic car'. Since you are converted you do not by any chance fancy giving her a call.......
