Normal DOT4 probably won't last as long as the super stuff if you're hard on the brakes; I've cooked it twice now since fitting the CL5+ - not sure if that's a feature of the brake pad, my driving or perhaps there is something else happening - in all the years of using any old DOT4 prior to CL5+ I never once boiled the fluid!

A good little guide to wet and dry boiling points on brake fluids.....

Nothing to worry about.

Surely the opposite Dan with SRF having a higher wet boiling point if i understand correctly?

I always use RBF600 :thumbsup

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).

That's good :-) Snatching ONE front on a non-ABS elise means you're close to perfect retardation :-)

It has done the S2k fine at Knockhill and some pretty serious road use - Stelvio etc - so will see you fine.

Watch out for my Uncle in Campbell's car on Friday - he's done Knockhill before a couple of times - once in his Probe 24v! But may have the L plates on!

Have fun all.

After tonight's shakedown...er yes, he will most certainly have the L plates on. "What gear is that?"....."Er, anyone's guess, Danny, just keep steering though eh..."

I managed to get home before it got dark tonight and bled the brakes with some RBF600 that arrived in a timely fashion from Opie.

I also realised (after reading that clever chap fd's faq) that I had fitted the pad springs upside down which, now sorted, appears to have completely eliminated the clunk from the pads. Result.

Looking forward to putting them through they're paces tomorrow.

:-)

Did the same. It has an arrow on it, but as it does not say up, it could point either way.

Mine don't have arrows, just holes hence why it was easy to get them wrong when you havn't thought about what they are there to do. I think the arrow refers to the rotation direction rather than 'up' but either way it makes no difference on the the car as they would point in the same direction. :-)

Just wanted to follow up after the track day. The brakes were amazing, taking me a little while to get used to how much retardation I had available. There was no reduction in braking power but I did notice that the brakes got a little spongier later in the session. I suspect this might be the rubber flexible hoses getting a bit hot.

Great results anyway. :thumbsup

Standard discs, standard flexi hoses, CL5+ pads, RBF600 fluid.

Will be interested to hear how the CL5+ pads evolve.

I've got std-ish discs, same fluid as you I think, and Mintex 1144 front and Pagid RS42 rears just now. Rears were a recent swap, things feel better already and I will probably put some RS42s on the front when the time comes mainly because Robin left me a lightly used set as a present recently :-) CL5+ are a possibility though if they hold up after lots of thrashings. They deffo looked good on your car this weekend.
