Tyres A048/R888/AD08
Re: Tyres A048/R888/AD08
Just ordered (for delivery tomorrow) a set of rear AD08s and I'll leave the AD07s up front for the timebeing. As I understand things Yokohama have agreed to continue supplying Lotus with AD07s until 2014. Therefore, I can't see them producing the AD08 in the right size for the fronts anytime soon which is a bugger. I think my only option might be to punt on my current set of forged lightweight alloys for the S2 and replace with the wider front Exige wheels to allow me to fit the 205/45s as that more or less maintains the rolling circumference. The 205/50s would be circa +5% and as I understand it the difference should be <=2.5%.

On a slightly different tangent to the r888/Ao48 etc route - have you considered the Kumho v70/v700, you get them in all manor of coumpounds etc, a little cheaper than yokohama/toyo, but IMHO they are just as great a tyre, if not better - i have been running the BMW on them all year for the hillclimbs, switching between the Super softs + mediums depending on conditions, and i have to say the grip levels are immense, and as for driving in the wet, on my mediums i was managing to touch 63's rounds knockhill when the rain was chucking it down - i have only once had a 'moment' with them and that was due to standing water - which i guess causes problems with any 'r' type tyre.
just a thought thats all.

Yeah Kelvin, verses standard the 205/45s would drop the front nominally by 4mm, 205/50s would raise it by over 6mm...Kelvin wrote:Just ordered (for delivery tomorrow) a set of rear AD08s and I'll leave the AD07s up front for the timebeing. Ive got R1Rs on mine at the moment after only previously having AD048s on. Think I will be stiking with the R1Rs as really happy with them and feel alot more confident with them in the wet and as I tend to only do a couple of track days a year think they are ideal for me.

Have got wider Exige front wheels for my 111R (Cheers Mike). If I go to 205 size what should the profile be. 45 or 50. Going to go for R1R's as seems to be a shortage of 888's and AO48's.
Mike..If you read this I know I should have listened....as you did tell me..
