Thanks Rich,

Yeah, I'm sure any owner of such elise will be delighted at a brake-padded bargain, with no loss of performance from their standard pads.

I shall - with a heavy heart, set those beauties free!

fitted braided hoses to my exige s2....fronts are a bugger of a job with ABS, clam off and watch your knuckles  ......as for feel, there is none!....but the knowing of having a nice set of hoses on, which is better than the tatty rubber ones.

i have a set of CL05+'s pads on the front on a lotus 2 pots.......there, much better than the OE;s by far....don’t forget to get the anti squeal pads that stick to the back and also the rattle pads...as, mine do squeal ever so slightly........also, be careful when parking...don’t push the peddle hard when stopped and then, bugger off for a few hours, cause they like to bind a bit when you come to pulling off  ...apart from that all good :thumbsup

Yes. Take it from me it's chuffing scary when you press the braked pedal and it goes all the way to the floor and the car only vaguely slows down and you are on the outside lane of the M1 trying to pick a line between all the other cars to get you to the hard shoulder. In my case the failure was exactly as Robin described in his previous reply. When I replaced them I used cutoffs from garden hosepipe between the brake hose and the p clip. Since then I've swapped the braided hoses every couple years. They aren't fit and forget.

After my fuel leak problem, I'm doubtful about fitting braided pipes of any description now. If the rubber perishes it's all hidden from view behind the lovely shiny bling and there's no way to check it.

only if you dont put the right p clip on....other wise they should be fine in my opinion, as i took a look at my rubber ones i noticed that they were getting quite brittle over time, and have started to crack in some places.....they are 5 years old.....

however, i will defo keep an eye on the braided ones i have on at the mo...... :cheers for the info

Shouldn't be rubber to deteriorate in the braided brake lines though? Although agree, everything will eventually perish.

Correct P clips &/or good protection from the P clip as above will be key as well.

The rubber in my fuel lines had gone slightly hard. I cut the braiding off and simply bending the rubber hose was causing it to crack. Whether the same thing happens with braided brake lines or not I don't know. However, I have read that the average lifetime of rubber hose is 6 years (my failed fuel lines were fitted 7 years ago) Given the relatively low cost of the brake lines it seemed to me that changing them every few years makes sense plus it's easy enough to do in an S1.

Hm. My braided brake lines have been on for 11 years

Another thing to add to the WMP. I'm going to need a longer bit of paper.

Brake lines should have PTFE or Teflon tubing IIRC. I would doubt, esp. at their smaller dia. that the tubing would be rubber based. Fuel lines have different requirements & tend to be rubber when not OE.

And the outcome of this thread, I got discs and pads on with the motul600 fluid yesterday. When the old discs came off from the rear - the drilled holes were no more on the inside, just filled with dust and metal. the front pads were low apart from the 2 outside rs42's,

I couldnt shift those shifty ebc pads so them put on the car (i have disgraced yees) - had put them on the scottishelises classifieds just for a while for your laughage lol!

no complaints so far - and good pedal too, although i only went from kirk's place back to Stirling.

Black discs looked cool, but went all silver on me once i pulled in to the drive :(

Just need to find a few of you loose ends to go a wee convoy with me so i can work'em a bit :thumbsup

The inner face of Elise rears will always go first, and of course will escape un-noticed to the casual observer.

So worth making a point of checking the inside faces regularly.

Weak caliper design, apparently (so my Technical Director tells me...)

But since they probably need changed half as often as the fronts, not really a big deal I suppose.
