Wiper No Wipey

Post by duggiesmith » Sun Jul 17, 2011 12:00 pm

Just got into the Elise with the intention of heading up to the charity day in Perthshire, only to find the wiper was dead. Given the forecast, I think it would be required at some point today.

I checked the fuse. It looked fine but I replaced it anyway. Still nothing.

I can hear a click when switching it on, so I'm guessing the switch is alright, which leads me to believe it could be the motor itself. I also tried moving it by hand with the wiper switched on and off. There was no give at all and I didn't want to force it.

Anyone got any ideas. If it is the motor. Is this easy to get at?

TIA
Duggie

Having spoken to Ali he thinks from what you've said and not seeing the car it is most likely the motor mate.. :thumbsup

The motor is not available separately from Lotus and comescomplete with the linkage assembly. To fit all of this is a clam off job but if you unbolt the motor and use the old linkage you can do it with the clam in place.

Thanks guys.
Sounds like it may well be the motor. I've also been in touch with Craig at MMC so I'm dropping it of there tomorrow for them to look at (my technical capabilities ran out after checking the fuse  )

Hoping for a quick fix for a trip to Abz on Thursday.

All sorted :D
Big thanks to Craig at MMC for looking at it at such short notice. Turned out it was the motor, so he got a new one sent by courier from Lotus.
I should also say thanks to Mark for offering the services of SLS. We are really spoilt here in Edinburgh.

Tut, I never saw N1, but I did notice a bag of bits in the corner of the workshop  Hope you get her back on the road soon.
