Rev Counter working intermittently

Post by russellphoto » Sun Jul 10, 2011 4:16 pm

Does anybody know how to fix an intermittent rev counter? About half the time it displays correctly, other times it reads about 1500 revs below where it used to. The engine is running fine otherwise.

Thanks

It might well be caused by the needle slipping around on the spindle; it get's cured each time you switch the engine off and wait for the stack to power down as the stack whacks the needle off the end stop to resync.

So, when it is under-reading (preferably in neutral with handbrake on) if you turn off the ignition, wait 30 seconds, restart the engine, does it start to read right again?
