VHPD Throttle Bodies - Bleed Screw ?
VHPD Throttle Bodies - Bleed Screw ?
Servicing the Caterham, and thought it was best to setup the throttle bodies. Port No.1 is drawing 0.5 more than the rest but can't find the bleed screws anywhere ?????
It must have them, but where ?

Re: VHPD Throttle Bodies - Bleed Screw ?
I have a set of caterham ones in my garage, only prob is im away for the weekend but could look whem i get back if you have no luck by then. Take it its an air bleed to balance them
Re: VHPD Throttle Bodies - Bleed Screw ?
I think you have the previous style of throttles bodies Alan but on the Caterham roller barrels ( R400/R500 etc) there are no bleed screws - it's a case of adjusting the linkage to get the best average flow between cylinders 1+2 and 3+4.
See the Minister website for details :
http://www.minister-power.com/
go to Customer Support followed by Roller Barrel Setup.
Also see the DVA power for details of setting up Jenvey throttles bodies although it states that the procedure is applicable to other types too.

( There's also some good advice on setting the dry sump oil level etc on the Minister FAQ pages http://www.minister-power.com/minister_ ... stions.htm )

Re: VHPD Throttle Bodies - Bleed Screw ?
If they are early butterfly throttle bodies they may not have air bypass, with your recent cable woes and no pedal stop you could have twisted a spindle which would give the same symptom of of one cylinder passing more air possibly.
Re: VHPD Throttle Bodies - Bleed Screw ?
Yep, as suspected no bleed screws.
Full throttle was a mile of the mechanical stop, so the t.b's were taking the full force of an eager right foot. The pedal was also very heavy so i stripped down the T.B's, cleaned up the linkages and re built. The pedal is now super smooth and light but sadly still out of sink. I would love to replace that horrible manifold with direct to head t.b's, we will see.
What make is the Roller Barrel, ala R500 that Caterham use. They look the business.
Cheers
Alan

Re: VHPD Throttle Bodies - Bleed Screw ?
Would have thought a pair of dth jenveys would be the best way to go with verniers and a mappable ecu, at least then you would know exactly whats going on, might save an expensive failure too ?
Re: VHPD Throttle Bodies - Bleed Screw ?
They are branded as "Caterham" parts but I don't know who they are manufactured by - I suspect they would only be available ( new ) direct from Caterham themselves.Gourlay83 wrote:

Re: VHPD Throttle Bodies - Bleed Screw ?
Noticed a set for sale here ; http://classifieds.seloc.org/ads/qed-th ... -k-series/
Re: VHPD Throttle Bodies - Bleed Screw ?
Alan, the set that were fitted to Lawrence's K-series 1.8 are, I believe, available for sale. Best ask Fergus - I think I've sent you his email before, but if you need a reminder, let me know. Also there is an M3DK (Emerald) that was used with that engine - it's not the K4 spec but it's fine for what you need.
Cheers,
Robin
