In an update to this post http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... 97#p356757, it was my Elise that Martin was talking about. Things have got worse regarding the rattling door though.
I noticed drives door latch plate screws were loose allowing door to rattle. Tightened those up, no problem and rattle went away but today returned. on investigation latch screws remained firm but with door card off found that the door latch and part of the window winder mechanism are bolted to a fairly thick shaped steel plate. It appears this shaped plate should be bonded to the inside of the door around the latch aperture and the bonding has now given way. Has anyone come across this and is there a DIY fix. What can be used as the bonding agent/glue as obviously a lot of force is put on it during the shutting of the door. And how do you get to it??
The plate in question is either 44 or 32 at this link http://www.lotusgarage.com/shop/index.p ... _list&c=51
Elise Door Rattle
Re: Elise Door Rattle
Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this at all before I have to resort to taking it to someone to get it fixed which I'm reluctant to do if a DIY fix is possible.
Someone on SELOC said that they had fixed it with Tiger Seal and it was a quick 5 minute job, when I pushed him for more details (as I can't see it being quick or easy) he said he'd find out and never got back to me.
Virtual pint to anyone that can help!

Re: Elise Door Rattle
Tiger Seal is probably an appropriate bonding agent. But as for access, dunno. If you remove the door card AND window and winding mech, does that help?
