Rear brake calipers - S1, S2, S2.5

Post by campbell » Thu Jun 16, 2011 8:34 pm

I'm acquiring a rear caliper to swap out one that's tiring.

A reputable Breaker is offering me one from a 2005 Elise - means S2.5 yota engined I believe. In any case, each of S1, S2 and S2.5 all have different part numbers for the rear caliper although all look broadly identical on the parts diagram (www.deroure.com).

Does anyone know if they all really are different?

TIA

Hi Campbell

I can get fully reconed ones for about £90 each, fitted them to the 160...

Thanks Mark and Stu.

Stu - NOW you tell me ;-) OK, let's discuss on phone along with plans for those disks I was talking about a couple of weeks back. I'll give you a call next week when my head clears a bit...

Already been said, but yes they're the same. I managed to get hold of a pair of 8000 mile old rear calipers from an Exige for my Elise. Think I paid £150 for the pair delivered from a guy on Seloc who had put the big brakes on or something. Anyway, might be worth keeping an eye out just in case. Mind you, Stu's offer of recon'ed ones for £90 each is an excellent price :D

Hi Stu,

Any chance of getting the details on where you got your refurb'd calipers from? Both my rears are in need of refreshing and I've been struggling to find anyone that does them for a decent price.

Cheers

Sinclaire ( now Essex Autosport) supplied overhauled rear calipers for my S1 (handed in identicle ones from an Esprit)

I bought four brand new fronts complete with pads for £200, sold a pair to Ape, and kept a pair for spares, but was unable to get any rears.
