Rear pad change

Post by r055 » Sun Jun 12, 2011 12:44 pm

Anyone got an online guide to changing rear pads on the Elise ?

Lost all my favourites as I remember there was one good site with a photo guide!
Managed to get through 5 years of ownership of not doing the rears myself!

I can do the fronts, oil change, engine mount :) but not the rears!!!

Main thing you need is a very thin punch (~2-3mm) to pop the retention pin out.

It was the 15mm bolt holding the caliper in place that I wasn't sure about.
I had taken that out, but the caliper wasn't for moving and didn't want to damage it, so was just wanting to check...

Other side done in under 5 mins now I know how! ;)

SELOC teck wiki and the Elise FAQ originated by Fergus Duncan are also very good resources.

You will need either a caliper wind-back tool (Eliseparts do a neat socket style one) or a pair of long nose pliers or a pair of punches locked into mole grips (!).
