Steaming

Post by gasgas » Mon May 02, 2011 10:29 pm

One of the front light pods on my car is steaming up after the car has been run for a while, any ideas on how to fix it or is it a trip to MMC.

well, my pods where misting up too eric, so the trick i did on my pods was to drill a 4mm hole in the bottom tip end to allow the moister to escape…it works a treat. :D
if you are to do this be very careful when drilling, i would recommend using a hand drill, and gently drill through it.

:cheers leigh

I had one indicator that used to fill up with water and I just drilled it too , one hole in the bottom to drain and one in the top corner to ventilate.

No need to take a drill to your lights Eric.

You have the newer style light pod than Leigh has on his Exige. Check out the second pic in this post on Lotus Talk. You will see that despite these being "sealed" units, there is already a hole in the bottom of the housing. You'll just have some moisture in there which should dry out soon enough with all this good weather we're having.

Noticed both mine were fogged up when out the other evening. Don't think its anything to worry about. :|

Hi Steven, good to know that i`m not the only person with the fogging. Thanks for saving me from the killer driller routine.I spoke to Craig at MMc and he told me to drop by as it`s a quick fix,so i`m planning to take a run through next Wednesday,i`ll let you know how i get on.
It`s been a while since the last Weegie run about time we all got together again,i`ll try and arrange something after the band of rain that`s coming has passed through. Cheers,Eric. :thumbsup

Sounds good! Should give me time to put my car back together (in bits as I'm changing the manifold).

Hi Lee,sounds like this is a common problem, did`nt do any drilling of the headlamps thank goodness.I have`nt had the montie out for ages, you might just have planted a seed of inspiration, last time i took it out i knackered my knee and was out of the game for ages,i`ll need to get it turned over and used.Do you go on any of the runs? If so it would be good to catch up for a blether.
All the best,Eric.
