Really sorry for the dumb question.
Watching the flow of water into my expansion bottle with the cap off I noticed that water flows in fine on idle, but when you rev the engine above 2000 RPM the flow into the expansion bottle stops.
Is this simply just a case of the increased water flow pushing open the thermostat and changing the flow of water to go around the Radiator circuit which means that the flow through the expansion bottle return stops? Or is this weird and should there always be a return to the expansion bottle regardless of revs and water circuit flow...
Cheers.
Coolant flow question.

Re: Coolant flow question.
That's normal. The cooling system defies analysis and it's best not to go there unless you have problems (thermodynamic or psychological).

Re: Coolant flow question.
My coolant is vanishing very gradually onto the garage floor.
Keep looking at what I *think* is the offending jubilee clip, buried inside the clam near the rad, and thinking "really must get James to crawl in there and nip that up a bit"
Was waiting for milder weather and I think the time has now come to tackle it. Maybe not with James, right enough.
