Getting ready for the summer....oh no !

Post by BiggestNizzy » Sat Jan 15, 2011 8:50 am

Due to a mixture of the weather and working more hours than a junior Doctor my elise hasn't really moved much since the middle of November, yesterday I got a chance to pop the battery out and give it a charge. after chiseling the batteryclamp off I got the battery out.

I popped my head in the engine bay for a nosey and I noticed to my horror there wqas no water in the expansion bottle.

currentlly bricking it as all I can think off is the water has frozen and destroyed everything.

:(

If you had the correct anti freeze in it should not freeze.

If it did freeze, the chances are that it will have popped a rubber pipe rather than one of the alloy ones ... fill it up and see what happens!

Cheers,
Robin

It should have been fine, I did top it up over the year but not by much. I am a bit pessimistic

Mine did that last year. Topped it up and all has been fine since.

Check your heater matrix, do you get a wee waft of coolant smell when you first turn the heaters on??... You may find you have a tiny leak too :thumbsup

Brilliant :D
If its been sitting a while thought might be an idea to take the plugs out and crank over by hand prior to trying to start it.
