Forte Engine Flush - Anyone used it in their Lotus

Post by SAJ » Wed Jan 12, 2011 2:45 pm

I've always had Forte Engine Flush run through my cars when they go for a service but just wanted to know if anyone had used it on here in their Lotus?

Cheers

Can't see much point in engine flushes if you change the oil regularly with fully synth. Different story on an old smoker with loose tolerances, run on mineral. My 70-odd thousand mile rattling K series that started to chew oil, was tuned like a grenade and was never treated to a flush looked fine when I took the cam cover off. Run on fully synth all it's life (latterly 15W50 to tame the rattling a touch)

Your money though, so if it gives you peace of mind.

I'm with Shug on this one - however, if I was to use a flush the it would only be the forte stuff! Remember whe the rep came in selling the stuff not long after launch and being blown away with what it could do.

I was told that the problem with a engine flush is that there is always going to be a certain amout left in the sump even with the best will in the world. Therefore what is left will start breaking down the new oil.

As Shug said if changed regularly it shouldn't really be required :thumbsup

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).

Thanks for your input everyone.

It's only a tenner so I don't mind that once a year. Well it might be twice a year the amount of miles I put on the clock.
