Shortened 22mm sockets
I have got have lathe running in the garage and if anyone wants some 22mm sockets machined down them let me have them.
If someone can tell me how much to cut off
No idea why you elise boys need them but i know you do.

Re: Shortened 22mm sockets
good idea
its for the crank pulley bolt, I had to cut mine in half with a grinder

Re: Shortened 22mm sockets
You only need as much of the socket as will fit over the head of the crank pulley bolt ... I'm sure there must be a K-series somewhere in your garage thinny?

Re: Shortened 22mm sockets
Also, bear in mind you are weakening the socket - check it for cracks and roundness before every use, nasty if it slips. /VOE
Just thought, I have a 22mm crowsfoot for getting at a lambda just now. Possibly a better solution for the crank bolt as well? I'll give it a bash next time.

Re: Shortened 22mm sockets
I don't think there is room for a crowsfoot in the pulley, you still need a bit of depth to clear the pulley lip.
OT: I have a 'proper' deep lambda sensor socket with the side cut out - absolute crap.
I had to wrap a large jubilee clip around it last time to stop it springing open.
I'm not sure the elderly ford lambda sensor is better than her knackered Smart Roadsterlambda but it was free and the ECU light is still off (For now!)

Re: Shortened 22mm sockets
Sure, so plenty of room to get your socket just as small as it needs to be without the hassle of squeezing up next to the chassis

Re: Shortened 22mm sockets
I also have some old 1/2 drive sockets of various sizes.
If you cut a 22mm socket down and then welded it to a flat bar then welded half a socket to the other end of the flat bar that would make an even skinnier socket.
Anyone want to donate a 22mm socket to the prototype?
