toyo t1-rs for series 1 at camskill
toyo t1-rs for series 1 at camskill
Picked up a set of front t1-rs for my series 1 and now looknig to get rears to match ( for some reason I've got proxes cf1's rather than t1rs on it)

Is that the right size and rating for the rear for a series 1?
It's about £30 cheaper per tyre than eytyres or blackcircles, is it just a really good deal or am I missing something? I know fitting will be extra but only lookng at about £30 for the 4.
Sorry if this is a topic which has been done 50 times before, just wary due to the price difference.

It is actually the correct size for the original P0's that were fitted to the S1, but we now all go for the 225/45/16, so go for those from Camskill.

Thanks, what's the advantage of the slightly different size?

Not sure, but Verian said that bigger is better.........

There's not a lot in it, Kev, however the slightly larger contact patch of the 225 offers slightly more rear end grip in the dry. Can actually have the effect of causing slightly more understeer, which of course is often considered the "safer" kind of slide (not necessarily true however).
There can surely be very, very few S1 owners running 205 rears now though.
Also, when mated to a 195 section front tyre - this came about by necessity a few years ago because 185s were getting hard to source in new options like Bridgestone, Toyo and also I *think* the Lotus-specced Yokohama Advan tyre - you'll probably find no difference in balance of the car. In the dry. In the wet or on snow, of course, the bigger contact patches make things a little less grippy by comparison. All that said, the Toyo is a brilliant wet weather tyre so again, you are unlikely to find a downside.

Re: toyo t1-rs for series 1 at camskill
I've got 185 front tyres so if I go to 225 will it give me more overall grip but less balance? Is there likely to be hee haw difference anyway?! I'm not using it on track and looking to do car limits course in next few months, still thinking 205s to match the smaller front.
Re: toyo t1-rs for series 1 at camskill
If you have 185 fronts then I'd go for 205 rears, keep the patches roughly similar proportions front and rear.
