Headlights

Post by tuscan_thunder » Mon Dec 27, 2010 5:16 pm

Are S1 headlights the same as on any other car? I should really replace both of mine (bodies are corroding) but the genuine ones from the usual outlets seem a wee bit dear.

Wondered if they were a generic part or the same as from something else - anybody know?

cheers

Iirc they are Renault numbers should be something in the archives. Opportunity to put eBay Hids in? Reckon you might need new brackets too.

Had a search but couldn't get anything to come up on here: will search again.

They look like Renault 4 headlights to me though.

The brackets and light bodies (like most of the steel parts on the car) are shot to bits.

From a previous thread when I replaced mine

Miles cheaper than anywhere I could find on t'internet. They are boxed and sold as Valeo (P.N. 460118) but when I took them out of the box they are branded as Cibie. They look identical to the one that are in at the moment.

You'll struggle to find them anywhere for less than £45+VAT now.

Valeo are the only people who make them and they put the prices up a couple of years ago after re-tooling to continue production.

Tell me about it the Esprit has 4 of them

As above they are Valeo only and like hens teeth.
I ended up calling loads of places and got nowhere, there was (6 months ago) also a shortage of them too which didn't help...
They are 6" units (Like Renault 4s) but the rest of the world uses 5 3/4" units instead.

I fitted 5 3/4" units, £30 for all 4, but the quality isn't great... Just bonded them in...

I managed to get hold of a new Valeo a year ago as a replacement for one of N1's when she goes back on the road.
