I have a query that I would like to see if anyone has any ideas the problem and solutions too.
I was on a SE run a while ago down the borders. While enjoying the great roads I had an issue. For some reason, while in fourth gear and at around 5000 rpm and holding the gear popped out. This happened twice on the day.
After doing some looking online, I came across a few reasons why this maybe. If the road is bumpy …the engine can move on the mounts and cause the gear shifter to move. Another was that you need to adjust the cables a wee bit…also, check gearbox oil level and refresh gear oil. Some have been extreme and suggested it is an internal problem and a gearbox rebuild was needed.
I tend to remember the road was bumpy, so I am thinking it was the engine mounts moving that has caused the problem, but my fellow SE’ers who where following me didn’t suffer my fate!
Has anyone on here had the same problem? And did you manage to solve it?
